Race Against Time: The Miraculous Rescue of Capri, A Paralyzed Dog Who Wanted to Live!

In the heart of Texas, a paralyzed dog named Capri was teetering on the brink of tragedy. Abandoned and alone dragging herself through a park, she found herself at an open intake shelter, where she miscarried four puppies shortly after her arrival.
Capri's journey took a perilous turn when she injured herself in a kennel drain, leading to a same-day euthanasia deadline. A shelter foster took her in to buy time to find rescue. But a local veterinarian misdiagnosed her condition as extremely painful and urged the shelter euthanize Capri instead of letting her go to a rescue. But Capri's shelter foster mom knew her best and Capris did not exhibit the behavior of a suffering dog and seemed quite happy.
With unwavering determination, New Hope Animal Rescue and her shelter foster mom advocated to save Capri's life! New Hope Animal Rescue begged to let her be seen by our veterinarian in Austin for a second opinion from Dr. Poling. Thankfully, the shelter's on site veterinarian agreed that Capri deserved a second chance!

Hit by a Car, a Paralyzed Cat Swept Off a Euthanasia List into Loving Arms!
It all began with a New Hope foster visiting a shelter outside of Austin where she met Groot and learned he had been found under a fallen tree limb. With a back injury resulting in mobility issues, the shelter would soon euthanize Groot. So without hesitation, our foster whisked him away to our trusted local veterinarian in Austin.
The diagnosis was grim but not without hope. Groot exhibited the classic signs of a cat that had been struck by a car—shattered nails, a pelvic fracture, but also a very sweet boy who longed to be held and a spirit that yearned for a second chance at life! Dr. Poling, our beacon of hope, assured us that Groot's nerves could regenerate with time, rest and patience. Within six months, Groot will likely gain full mobility!
