At New Hope Animal Rescue, we believe every animal deserves a second chance, no matter the obstacles they’ve faced. One of our newest rescues, a senior English Bulldog we have named Nigel, is proof of just that.
Nigel spent his entire life outside in a backyard filled with piles of trash, used for breeding, and suffering neglect. Forced to endure the elements without the love and care he deserved, it’s no surprise he is high heartworm positive and was also facing euthanasia at an open intake shelter. We couldn't let his future be cut short before he even had the chance to know the kindness, warmth and safety of a real home.

Heartworms are a preventable disease, and yet this bulldog—neglected and left to suffer outdoors—was never given the simple, monthly heartworm prevention that is an essential part of responsible pet care that could have prevented the damage that's being done to his heart and lungs as we speak.
With your support we can give Nigel and other dogs like him the recovery from heart worms and life they deserve. Heartworms can be treated, but the treatment is expensive and takes several months of recovery in our care.
