Melissa was on the Euthanasia list for being differently abled after 23 Shar Pei mixes were found on a single property.

23 Shar Pei mixes found themselves in an over crowded shelter after their owner had died. Four of these dogs were killed immediately, while the remaining 19 were given only 72 hours to be saved. Only a handful of these dogs were deemed "adoptable"  to the general public and Melissa was one of the many unlucky dogs who were labeled as "rescue only" due to the way she walks. While we saved several dogs from this case, we are highlighting Melissa because she truly went from having no hope to being one of the most beloved dogs of New Hope Animal Rescue.  Please take a moment to watch our video to see her story and  and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel.
Melissa is currently available to adopt so please share her story far and wide so we can find her an amazing home!
This senior poodle was skin and bones at a kill shelter.  With rotting teeth, an eye glued shut and other medical issues, we knew she needed hope!

Sweet Gertie was at a kill shelter and was skin and bones weighing barely 4 lbs.  Her left eye was glued shot due to an eye ulcer, her hair was matted and she had severe abdominal distress.  Despite being a senior dog in a highly neglected state, she was still full of spunk and full of love.  We have healed her eye ulcer and abdominal issues and are happy to report she is now weighing 6 lbs!  Gertie now has a $1,500 surgery scheduled for her rotting teeth. The vet estimates close to 100% of her teeth will be pulled. Any size donation to help Gertie is very appreciated so we can replenish our medical fund to save the next senior pup in need.
Senior poodle was skin and bones at a kill shelter until New Hope saved her!
Thank you for letting us share some of our recent stories.  Our donors, fosters, volunteers and adopters make it possible to continue our life-work.

Thank you for your support. Together we save lives.
