"They were so starved they vomited rocks, sticks and grass."
A chance encounter by one of our volunteers at a local flea market revealed a heart-wrenching sight – a lone puppy confined in a dirty crate under the blazing sun with a "free" sign. But she would soon learn from vendors that this puppy was part of a litter that someone abandoned at the site the day before. In scorching 107 degree heat, she desperately searched the area and found 3 siblings cowering and panting under a trailer.
Covered in fleas and clearly neglected, she soon discovered they had also ingested rocks and sticks in their desperate search for sustenance. Their journey to healing had begun, thanks to the dedication of one individual who refused to turn a blind eye. Driven by compassion, we did turn a blind eye to our own funding crisis to ensure these puppies receive the essential care they deserve.
Today, we are on a mission to raise $1,000, which would revitalize the resources needed to support this vulnerable litter.
"I've never seen so many fleas on one puppy."
Under the nurturing care of their guardian angel who rescued them that day, Alaska, Carolina, Dakota, and Montana are safe and healthy. They are set to undergo spaying and neutering on September 6th. They are eagerly awaiting the chance to meet potential adopters and even potential fosters!
