Our Fight to Save 90 Cats from One Overwhelmed Home Isn’t Over

Cats Rescued from Desperation, Now Facing Ringworm Challenge

Our ongoing mission to rescue 90+ cats from an overwhelmed caregiver and crowded conditions is far from over. What began as a well-intentioned pet owner caring for just two unfixed cats snowballed into over 96 cats within just 4 years.

Memorial day weekend, New Hope rescued 63 cats from these over crowded conditions and just last week, we went back for 21 additional cats. These cats were rescued not a minute too soon – all of them had been living without access to necessary veterinary care. Even though they are now safe, their healthy journey is not over. Shortly after the cats arrived in  Austin, it became clear that at least 12 of these cats and kittens showed signs of ringworm which is costly to treat.

But safeguarding their health began with comprehensive FeLV/FIV testing and vaccinations for each cat. Our expenses just for ringworm treatment, testing, and vaccines have now surpassed $2,000. This essential investment is pivotal in aiding these neglected cats on their journey to recovery, but we are now in desperate need of support to continue our rescue efforts.

And when you support our organization, you're not just ensuring these cats and kittens find safe, loving homes – you're also spreading love and joy to countless adopters' lives. Your compassion makes all the difference. Pictured below is Cal Cal who was the first cat from this ongoing rescue effort to be adopted in June.

As we continue this ongoing mission, approximately 17 adult cats  still need to be rescued from this property. We are dedicated to their rescue, but our resources are now stretched very thin. We would like to share with you how contributions both small and large can transform the lives of these cats:
  • A donation of $6 can help us microchip a cat or kitten
  • A donation of $25 can provide a wellness exam or a dose of flea/heartworm prevention or provide a rabies vaccination.
  • A donation of $40 can provide and FelV/FIV combo test
  • A gift of $78 would pay for one bottle of itrafungol, an oral medication needed to treat ringworm [so far we have purchased 9 bottles]
  • With a gift of $100, you can provide a spay/neuter surgery or a tray of 25 FVRCP vaccines.
This is an active and ongoing situation and we are truly grateful to every person who has already made a gift to support these deserving cats. Thanks to every gift, they have a second chance to live healthy and happy lives.

With heartfelt gratitude,
