Discarded Senior Dogs find New Hope

*|MC:SUBJECT|*

Dear friends,

We are seeing more and more senior dogs coming into shelters in varying states of neglect. We are devoting this update to some of the recent senior dogs we have rescued because senior dogs deserve a second chance at life. There are many benefits to adopting a senior pet, but the greatest reward is their unconditional love.

JoJo, a 14 year Old Shih Tzu, Was Terrified at the Shelter When His Owners Did Not Come for Him.

JoJo was exhibiting fear at the shelter and was difficult to handle due to the pain he was in. He was covered in mats, burs and feces. He had rotting teeth that fell out in our vet's hand and his mats were so bad, he had to be shaved under anesthesia during his dental procedure. X-rays reveal moderate to severe arthritis in both shoulders, but now that we are managing his pain, JoJo  has warmed up to human touch, seeking affection and love from the people around him.  Watch JoJo''s video for his story

Tucker Was Discarded at a Small Animal Control Facility in the Rio Grande Valley. He was Covered in Ticks and Scared.

Tucker had no hope of making it out of a small, animal control facility alive until we were alerted that he needed our help. At 10 years old, he was covered in ticks and afraid. Once safe with us, we would discover that Tucker is high heartworm positive and is suffering from severe dental disease and rotting teeth. Tucker is receiving the most quality of care through our friends at Tech Ridge Pet Hospital. If you have a soft spot for senior pets like we do, donations of any size will help us with Tucker's heartworm treatment and dental surgery.
Happy Update: Senior Newfoundland's Mass Removed!

Emerson, age 10, was surrendered to us when his owner fell on difficult times. He had several major health issues we had to tackle, but we are happy to announce that the large mass that was engulfing his lower teeth has been removed! Emerson is already feeling great and his foster mom will be adopting him. A special thank you to all who donated towards Emerson's vet care.

Senior dogs and cats do not deserve to spend their final days abandoned in a shelter to be killed for space. Senior pets are often surrendered to shelters for euthanasia for very treatable health conditions. It is also common for older dogs to be surrendered to shelters to make room for a new puppy. And sadly, many senior shelter dogs and cats were once cherished pets, but have simply outlived their owners. Please consider being a lifeline for one of these senior pets through adopting, fostering or donating

Our donors, fosters, volunteers and adopters make it possible for us to rescue dogs and cats of all ages and in varying states of health. For this, we are grateful.

Thank you for your support. Together we save lives.
