| Meet Hopper, the resilient little Maltese with a heart as big as his spirit! Despite entering our rescue with broken toes on one back foot, this pint-sized dynamo doesn't let anything hold him back when it comes to zooming out into the yard with his much larger dog friends. The vet assures us that his foot doesn't cause him pain, and he's adapted to using it in his own unique way. Removing the toes or foot would do more harm than good, so Hopper embraces his quirks with grace and has a little "hop" to his gate. Between 4-6 years old, Hopper is a bundle of sweetness just waiting to blossom. He's slowly but surely coming out of his shell, showing off his excitement with spins and crooked jogs that'll melt your heart. Whether he's chasing after his canine companions or eagerly awaiting mealtime with those wide, expressive eyes and flicker of his tiny tongue, Hopper's zest for life's simpler pleasures is infectious. He has recently started to spin in circles to show his excitement spins and is house trained. He is very quiet and usually finds one comfy spot to claim and parks himself there all day long. Hopper does not bark much but when the yellow lab he fosters with howls, Hopper recently found his voice and howled along side her which made foster mom laugh hard because this tiny little dog sounds like a mighty siren. Hopper had to be shaved because he was extremely matted when he entered a shelter so he hair will grow into a medium to long haired maltese that will require regular grooming. He is tiny, weighing only 5-6 pounds so safety will be a big consideration wherever we place this cutie. Due to his tiny size he can go to a home with adults or children that are 10 and over and fences must be very secure. No dog doors, we are sorry but he is too tiny to risk getting out.
