Do you like large, loyal breeds? Are you an active individual or family, who enjoys long walks and outdoor activities? Do you have at least 2+hrs a day to actively spend with a trusted companion? Are you interested in, and willing to work with a dog reinforcing behaviors and teaching new tricks or obedience commands? And most importantly, are you interested in forming a cooperative, lifelong friendship and relationship with your dog?

If your answers are 'yes', then Monty might be exactly the dog you're looking for.
Monty is approximately 8-9 months old, German Shepherd mix pup, who loves to learn. Highly food motivated, making training time a breeze. After a walk or interactive play, he settles nicely in his crate or on place.

Monty and his foster, who's a trainer, have been tirelessly working on his manners, recall, impulse control, and calmness in various situations and around people, animals, and machinery. He has recently discovered the joys of fetch, enjoys playing with other dogs and doesn't seem bothered by cats.
Ideal family will be committed to providing Monty with a good exercise regiment, such as long walks/hikes, agility, and mentally stimulating exercises, such as search games, sniff games, food puzzles, etc.

Monty thrives and relies on human connection and structure. This is not a type of dog who will be satisfied with "just running around the backyard". Shepherds are known for the fierce connection they develop with their human handlers, and they will feel lost without it.

Montana (aka Monty) is a resilient German Shepherd puppy with a heart as big as the Montana skies! Montana was rescued from a flea market alongside his siblings, where they were cruelly abandoned and left to starve as younger puppies. All were adopted, but unforeseen, sad circumstances brought Montana back to New Hope, and he’s once again on his journey to find a forever home. His original adopter says he's a truly fantastic dog, and she can't sing his praises enough.

Monty is playful, very affectionate, and can be a goof, but his true passion is doing a job for his human (even if that means just sitting quietly next to you). This is a dog whom you can take virtually anywhere, parks, restaurants, stores, etc. He excels at all of it.

Monty is a true family-dog in all the meaning of the word.
