Description:

Meet Cubby — 48 Pounds of Bulldog Love (and Waddle)

With his soft eyes, boyish face, and puppy-like charm, Cubby is the kind of bulldog who melts hearts on sight. At 48 pounds, this white-and-gray sweetheart is adorably stocky, a little awkward, and completely lovable.

One of Cubby’s quirkiest (and cutest) habits? When he finds a squeaky toy he likes, he smashes his whole face into it with bulldog determination and enthusiastic snorts, kneading it with his paws like a happy cat making biscuits. Yes—it’s just as adorable as it sounds.

Speaking of cats, he’s curious but respectful. He may investigate, but he mostly leaves them alone.

Cubby forms strong bonds with new humans quickly and loves being close. He’ll follow you around the house, wait patiently outside your office door, and come when you call—just happy to be part of your day. He’s fully house and crate trained and an all-around easygoing companion.  He even cooperates with bath time!

In his foster home, he gets along great with other dogs. Even when a grumpy Frenchie snaps at him, Cubby just backs away calmly—he’s gentle and polite with everyone.

Climbing on the couch is a bit of a mission—his short legs make the leap a challenge—but he gives it his best shot. A little boost is appreciated, though sometimes he surprises himself and makes it up solo.

While Cubby is a total sweetheart, bulldogs require a specific kind of care. We’re seeking a home that understands and is financially prepared for the common health needs of the breed, including:

  • Skin issues like allergies and infections—regular cleaning of skin folds is essential
  • Breathing challenges due to their flat faces (brachycephalic)—prone to snoring, overheating, and limited tolerance for exercise
  • Orthopedic concerns like joint problems and arthritis
  • Heat sensitivity—bulldogs must be kept cool, especially in Texas summers

For Cubby's safety, we unfortunately cannot adopt him or other bulldogs in our rescue to homes with swimming pools that do not have safety fencing or to homes with dog doors (due to heat intolerance concerns).

If you're ready for a snorty, sweet, couch-climbing shadow who’ll love you like you’re the center of his world, Cubby is ready to be your sidekick.
