Description:
Rocky's story starts the way the best rescues do โ in the middle of a storm. He was found huddling under a parked car as severe weather rolled in, barking out of fear and out of hope that someone might stop. Someone did. A little wet food bridged the gap between terrified stray and wiggly new friend, almost instantly.
Efforts were made to find his owner. No one came. And honestly? Their loss.
At roughly 5 months old, Rocky is a black-and-white mixed breed with oversized ears, an even bigger personality, and a mind that never stops working. He's currently thriving in a foster home with four other dogs โ playing, chasing, and barking in happy chorus โ which tells you everything about how well he moves through the world.
He's already mastered sit and down, has exceptional recall for a puppy his age, and is obsessed with enrichment games, especially the kind that dispense treats. He's fully crate trained, sleeps through the night without a fuss, and treats his crate like his own personal suite. After a big play session he'll crash hard โ puppies need their rest โ and wake up ready to go again.
We've sent out for his DNA, so we'll know soon exactly what mix he is and what size to expect when fully grown. But here's the thing โ that doesn't change what matters most right now. Rocky is at a critical developmental window โ the kind where consistency, training, and positive exposure to the world shape who he'll be for the rest of his life. Whatever the DNA reveals, the foundation being built today is what will define him. And that foundation is looking very, very good.
He just needs his person. Here's what that person looks like:
- Ready to continue training โ consistency is everything at this stage
- Has time for daily exercise and mental enrichment
- Open to puzzle toys, games, and enrichment activities
- Patient with a pup who is still learning the big world
- Committed to socialization during this critical window
- Experience with active or working breeds is a plus
- Sees the dog he's becoming, not just the puppy he is right now
