**Meet SugarBoo – A Sweetheart Ready for a Fresh Start**
SugarBoo’s story is one of resilience and new beginnings. He came from a heartbreaking cruelty case in Tyler, Texas, involving a breeder with over 60 dogs kept in poor conditions, including micro and nano bully mixes. Although the breeder was involved in fighting dogs, we want to be clear—SugarBoo was never used for fighting. Instead, he was kept for breeding, living most of his life confined to outdoor cages. His story is a reminder of the importance of adopting or doing thorough research when purchasing pets to avoid supporting unethical breeders.
Despite his difficult past, SugarBoo has shown us that he is a kind, gentle soul. As he continues to heal and trust, we’re confident that SugarBoo will blossom into a loving, devoted companion and has already proven himself to be a sweet and forgiving dog. He finds comfort and confidence in the presence of other dogs and has shown curiosity about cats—though he seems content to leave them alone.
SugarBoo is house and crate trained, though sadly, a caged life was all he knew before rescue. With time and care, SugarBoo will fully decompress from his past and understand that life can be different, with love, freedom, and joy waiting for him.
As he continues to heal and trust, we’re confident SugarBoo will blossom into a loving, devoted companion and has already shown us to be a sweet and forgiving dog.
We are honored to welcome SugarBoo on his rescue journey with New Hope Animal Rescue, and we know that, with patience and love, this sweet boy will thrive in a home where he is finally safe and cherished.
**An Ideal Home for SugarBoo**
SugarBoo’s ideal family will need patience and understanding as he continues to adjust to life outside of the challenging conditions he came from. Right now, a calm and quiet home would suit him best while he builds confidence and trust in his new surroundings.
For all of our Bulldog and Bulldog mix rescues, we seek adopters who are knowledgeable about the breed’s unique behavioral and health needs. Bulldogs and their mixes, like SugarBoo, can require specialized care, from managing allergies to addressing orthopedic or respiratory concerns. It’s important that adopters are prepared with the resources—both in terms of vet care and training—should any needs arise.
Sadly, we’re seeing an increasing number of Bulldogs and mixes in shelters because owners were unprepared for the breed’s specific requirements.
