Description:

Meet **The Sundance Kid**, a 6-month-old brindle and white mixed breed who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to stay in the medium-sized dog range. Rescueda high-risk facility animal shelter an hour north of Austin, he found his way to a loving foster home. Though officially named the Sundance Kid, his foster mom often calls him by his secret name—“Puppy Doodle”—a name he happily responds to.

Sundance is the epitome of sweetness and adaptability. He gets along beautifully with all animals, adjusting his play style to suit his friends. Whether it’s a game of hide and seek, wrestling with his dog buddies, or gently licking the ears of the senior pit mix he lives with, Sundance knows how to have fun while showing respect. His non-threatening demeanor has even won over a dog-selective pup named Pie Pie, a testament to Sundance’s gentle and loving nature.

This sensitive boy responds well to tone and is incredibly soft and snuggly. After a day of play, he loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa with a human companion. While he’s used to sleeping in a gated family room on a sofa, he’d be thrilled to share a bed with his new family. Sundance tolerates a crate and will even go in on his own, though his foster mom admits she has not crated him often.

Sundance has a deep love for the outdoors and never tires of it. He’s always up for playtime, whether with one dog or another. His outdoor enthusiasm makes him an ideal candidate for an outdoor enthusiast or hiker or someone with a yard or who will take him out for lots of play time.

Sundance’s gentle nature extends to foster kittens, too. He has taken on the role of “nanny,” showing extraordinary gentleness with a paralyzed kitten named Stumbelina and even playing softly with a rambunctious kitten as if it were another puppy. His play is always considerate, never pushing the limits of his smaller friends.

Sundance greets every human with love and wiggly butt enthusiasm. While he can bark when excited, especially at adoption events, this behavior is not typical at home.  Sundance is somewhat of a "grazer" at meal time, seeming more interested in playtime or snuggles than eating.

Sundance is looking for a family willing to devote time to basic puppy manners and training. He’s a smart, eager-to-please boy with a gentle puppy mouth who isn’t overly mouthy. He adores frozen Kong treats, bully sticks (which hang from his mouth like a cigar between chews!), plush toys, and squeaky toys. Despite his love for play, he’s always gentle and respectful, especially with his “grandpa” Baloo, a bigger, older dog whose ears Sundance lovingly licks and cleans.

Sundance Kid is ready to bring joy, snuggles, and endless playtime to his forever home. Could that be with you?
