My name is Brody and I'm a 13 year old Maltese/Shih Tsu mix. My life was uprooted when my owner died. She had loved me for 7 years after rescuing me from the Dallas shelter where I had ended up in a pretty rough state. I went to go live with family after my mom died, but sadly, they weren’t dog people and had allergies, so I was confined to a room and left almost completely alone for a year without so much as a dog bed.
Another family member wanted a better life for me and did all she could to care for me the past several months, but she is moving and is already over her pet limit for her new apartment. They made an appointment to surrender me to the shelter, but New Hope Animal Rescue did not want me to go there because I have already been through so many sad changes.
I need an adopter or foster. Do you have a warm dog bed and a big heart? Do you like to snuggle on the couch? That’s all require. I did well living with two pugs and a cat.
I’m neutered, current on my shots and annual heartworm test. I’m partially deaf and have sensitive back legs from an old trauma, so no young kids who might not respect my boundaries. I’m not perfectly house-trained but do well with frequent potty breaks and am very treat and food motivated.
