Description:
Ivy’s story is one of resilience and love. This sweet Chihuahua mix was pregnant when she entered the shelter, but just days later, she gave birth in the safety of a New Hope foster home. She has been a devoted and loving mama, and now it’s her turn to find a forever home where she can be cherished.
Ivy is a playful and affectionate little dog who enjoys toys but loves snuggling with her humans even more. She especially adores kids and often chooses to spend time with them over adults. At night, she’s happy to sleep in a dog bed, curl up with an 8-year-old, or snuggle in bed with her people. She is mostly potty trained but has occasional accidents, especially in places where other dogs have gone before. While she is still learning about leashes, she is crate trained and finds comfort in her kennel.
At mealtime, Ivy prefers to eat in her kennel where she feels secure, as she can be a little protective over her food. She enjoys running in the yard, so a home with a fenced space would be ideal—apartment living may not be the best fit for her. During potty training with her puppies, she even picked up on using pee pads herself!
Ivy would thrive in a home where she gets plenty of attention, either as the only dog or with one other small canine companion. She would do wonderfully in a home with children but would also be happy in an adult-only household filled with love and snuggles.
