Maudie

Maudie came from a sad situation where several puppies in her litter were born with the same congenital mobility condition. Her back legs don’t work quite like other dogs’, but she gets around just fine—with a little patience, she enjoys short walks and is determined to get around the block every day!

She also has permanent thermal scars on her head, a reminder of her difficult start. But none of that defines her. What defines Maudie is how sweet, silly, and affectionate she is.

This little typewriter-walker (seriously—she speeds ahead, then trails behind, then speeds ahead again) loves other dogs, loves the outdoors, and absolutely adores her humans once she warms up. She’s shy at first, then flirty, then full-on snuggly once she knows she’s safe. She even likes to carry her own leash—and sometimes walks her foster sister like a little pro!

House training and crate training are both going well, though she’s still in her “chew everything” puppy phase. Shoes and slippers beware! For now, we recommend crating when unsupervised, and she’s adapting to a crate routine beautifully.

Other highlights:

• Low to medium energy (she tires easily due to her leg strength)
• Sleeps a lot during the day, especially after sniffy morning walks
• Quiet – she barely barks
• Obsessed with dog bones, treats, and sniffing the breeze
• Working on “sit,” “come,” and learning her name
