Description:
Momo didn’t have the easiest start—she was set to be euthanized the very day we were visiting a shelter. She was painfully squinting from entropion in both eyes, missing most of her fur, and severely underweight. But after showing us just how incredibly sweet she was, we looked her in the eyes and told her she wasn’t going to die that day.
In our care, she’s had corrective surgery on her eyes, and now they shine brightly. Her coat is growing back beautifully, and her spirit shines just as much as her eyes. Wide-eyed and gaining confidence, Momo is discovering new joys in every day.
She’s incredibly affectionate and eager to please. In fact, she learned to “sit” with affection used as he reward! She’s both affection and treat motivated and so easy to train. She thrives with positive reinforcement and structure, and she’s come a long way with crate training, house training, and learning how to just be a dog. If you love working with a smart, sensitive pup and seeing progress—it’s incredibly rewarding with Momo.
She bonds hard and fast, but that also means she’ll need a human who enjoys bonding through consistent guidance and structure, not just snuggles to grow her confidence. She may cling or seek constant reassurance at first, but with the right structure and enrichment, she will settle in beautifully. Her ideal home will offer consistent routines, confidence-building, and outlets for her energy—training, puzzle toys, walks, and someone who enjoys bonding through guidance, not just snuggles.
Momo is friendly with other dogs and enjoys their company. She can sometimes get a little bossy around toys or when she’s feeling extra connected to her person—especially if another anxious and protective dog is in the mix, but this can be managed with boundaries—but she does do well with most dog companions. She’d likely thrive with a dog who’s confident, calm, and easygoing and doesn’t mind sharing, or one with a naturally submissive personality.
If you're looking for a dog to grow with, work with, and love deeply—Momo is ready for the journey. She doesn't need perfection—she just needs someone who believes in her. Momo would do best in a single-family home with a yard.
