June Bug

Meet June, a delightful Beagle and Australian Cattle Dog mix (wisdom panel confirmed) with velveteen ears! This 23-pound bundle of joy is loyal, playful and intelligent. She is fully grown and estimated at ~1 1/2 years old. Short and stout, she has an outgoing personality and loves playing fetch, chewing on a good bone, and can happily coexist with cats.

June is crate-trained and sleeps through the night in her kennel. She's also house trained and eats her HEB Heritage Ranch dog food with great enthusiasm.

Highly food motivated, June can patiently wait to be served, though it takes a lot of self-control! She enjoys games of chase, kongs filled with peanut butter, and stuffed animal toys. She adores neck scratches and belly rubs and has shown no training challenges or bad habits like digging or escaping.

She's an excellent work-from-home companion, happily napping in her open kennel or at your feet, taking short potty breaks to soak up the sun, and playing from 6-8pm before relaxing for the night.

June also loves weekly playdates with a neighborhood dog, where they joyfully roll around and race. Don't be fooled by her petite size; she can keep up with the big dogs and rowdy boys, commanding their respect like a tiny Amazonian princess. She won't hurt cats and considers them good friends, but will chase to play and will affectionately nibble on both cats and dogs [looks like nibbling on a corn cob  or flea biting and they appear to enjoy it].

While she isn't photogenic, she's a cutie pie in person.

Don't be fooled by her calm daytime personality. She can definitely get the "Junies" in the evening, bouncing off the furniture and chasing toys with the best of them. We’ve observed she is calm and comfortable in the car. She does not bark, beg or whine over human food. She makes cute noises, but does not have a traditional beagle bay. You’re welcome!

As cute and flirty as Junie is, it is important not to become too smitten or easily seduced by her charms and give in to her every demand because this will encourage her, over time, to be protective of her humans and toys [with other dogs or human strangers to the home only].

Junie will thrive best in a home with adults or adults and teenagers 16 and up because she needs clear and consistent boundaries and reinforcement of rules and structure so she understands it is not her job to protect the home - because her humans have that all under control! Junie needs a home where she can just be a dog and not feel insecure and clear rules and boundaries will make her feel confident in her humans.

With a sweet, playful personality and demonstrated amazing demeanor in one-on-one and in familiar situations, Junie has the potential to be an outstanding companion with the right home dynamics and confident leadership and structure.
