Description:
Meet Rooney — the Land Dolphin of Love!
At 7 years old, Rooney the French Bulldog has mastered the art of making people smile. Whether he’s leaping like a “little land dolphin” across the yard or showing off his perpetually visible bottom teeth (his signature grin!), Rooney’s joyful spirit is infectious.
He’s a happy, social guy who loves life’s simple pleasures — car rides, belly rubs, celery snacks, and being with his favorite humans. His foster calls him “a smart, funny, good-natured companion who just wants to be part of everything.”
Rooney has that classic Frenchie energy — bursts of playful zoomies and silliness followed by deep, contented naps. He’s playful and loves tug and group zoomies with dog friends, but once he’s had his fun, he’s perfectly content to lounge nearby and snore the day away. He’s house-trained, knows several commands (sit, stay, come, and “get in your spot” for mealtime), and he’s eager to please his people.
Rooney gets along well with other dogs and enjoys group play, though he’s still learning about boundaries — like not helping himself to another dog’s food or getting too excited during playtime. He’d do best with a confident, experienced owner who can offer gentle structure and consistency.
He’s not a fan of cats or small animals (tortoises included — he’s tried to nibble those too!) and tends to chase squirrels, so a cat-free home is best. He can be vocal when he hears noises outside or when guests arrive, but he’s learning that calm greetings come with treats and praise.
Because Rooney prefers not to be crated, he does better in a small gated area when alone — and he’s trustworthy in the home uncrated once settled. He thrives on affection and will absolutely charm anyone who meets him.
Rooney has chronic dry eye that requires daily prescription drops and skin allergies that are managed with regular vet-administered injections. His future family will need to stay consistent with this care — something he handles like a champ.
Rooney would love an active, loving home with humans who are home often and enjoy walks, playtime, and plenty of cuddles. Another playful dog would be a bonus, but not required — as long as he’s not alone too much.
