My name is Gertie and I was rescued from a kill shelter. I’m not sure how a sweet girl like me ended up there. I was so very thin and not feeling good but the rescue is fattening me up and I’m doing great. I am estimated to be 8 years old but have lots of spunk and so much love and affection to give. My teeth are not in good shape at all and the vet thinks they will need to pull most of them. It sounds scary but I will feel so much better after my dental surgery! Because I still need to have surgery, I’m available to "foster to adopt"! That means, you can fill out an adoption application now and if you are approved, you would take me home as a foster and would officially adopt me after I’ve had my dental surgery. Anyway, I love to give kisses and I love snuggling with humans and other dogs. I also want to please you and take correction and direction well. I sometimes bark at cats so they know I’m in charge of protecting you but I don’t want to hurt them. If you like snuggles and have a warm dog bed for me, I think I could bring you a lot of joy! I’m also house trained.
