Description:

Nova may be little, but don't tell her that.

At just 21.5 pounds, she somehow manages to pack the confidence, opinions, and personality of a much larger dog into one compact Frenchie body. Her foster describes her as "itty-bitty but powerful like a bull," and honestly, we think that sums her up perfectly.

Funny, smart, affectionate, and just the right amount of dramatic, Nova catches on quickly to routines and isn't shy about letting you know exactly what she wants. If she has an opinion on the matter, chances are you'll hear about it. Thankfully, she has so much love to give that her charming stubbornness is simply part of what makes Nova, Nova.

One thing is certain: Nova fully embraces the finer things in life.

She loves being pampered and happily sits still for brushing sessions. After coming in from outside, she'll make her way to her pillow so her foster can wipe her down—especially her paws. Nova appreciates being cared for and has settled comfortably into the routines that make her feel safe and loved.

Nova is house trained and crate trained, although she's still working on accepting that "Nova time" eventually has to come to an end. She may protest a bit when first returning to her crate, but gentle reassurance helps her settle down and relax.

At this stage, Nova should not be left loose in the house unattended. She still has some recovery time behind her and is full of curiosity. When given supervised freedom, she wants to investigate absolutely everything.

Nova is motivated by treats, toys, and affection, which makes her eager to engage and continue learning. She gets especially excited when coming out of her crate and may nip at hands in her enthusiasm. With redirection and guidance, she settles nicely.

Her leash skills are still developing. She enjoys stopping to investigate all the interesting scents the world has to offer, but she can also pull with surprising determination for such a small dog. Typical Frenchie stubbornness is very much included at no extra charge.

As Nova has started feeling better physically, we're beginning to learn more about who she is and what she enjoys. She's shown that she can be selective in her interactions with other dogs. In one instance, she reacted strongly toward a larger dog but appeared comfortable around a smaller dog. Because of this, we believe thoughtful introductions and continued training will be important, and we're still learning what her ideal canine companions might look like.

Energy-wise, Nova is a little bit of everything. She has playful moments where you can tell she would happily throw herself into fun with enthusiasm, but when it's time to relax, she is content to settle in and enjoy quiet companionship. Whether she's soaking up affection, enjoying her pampering routine, or snoozing with complete abandon, Nova clearly appreciates the comforts of home.

Because Nova is still showing us who she is now that she's feeling better, we think her perfect home is one willing to continue her training, appreciate her larger-than-life personality, and give her the patience and guidance she needs to thrive.

If you're looking for a French Bulldog with a huge personality, a love of life's little luxuries, and the confidence of a dog three times her size, Nova may just be your girl.
