NHAR Receives Grant from PetSmart Charities

NEW HOPE ANIMAL RESCUE NFP RECEIVES $20,000 GRANT FROM PETSMART CHARITIES® TO HELP MORE HOMELESS PETS FIND HOMES IN AUSTIN TEXAS

Austin TX – January 21, 2021 – New Hope Animal Rescue has received a $20,000 grant from PetSmart Charities to help prepare more at-risk shelter pets in Texas for adoption and ensure they receive vital medical care needed prior to placing them in loving homes. With the help of this grant, the organization will be able to help fund pre-adoption medical care for countless homeless pets, as well as hire a part-time adoption facilitator to move displaced pets into loving home more quickly.

According to Best Friends State by State rankings released in 2020, Texas ranks No. 2 in the nation for shelter pet deaths with 96,707 pets killed in 2019. New Hope Animal Rescue NFP, founded in 2018, wants to be part of the solution, setting their sights on saving over 500 lives in 2021. This grant will go a long way towards supporting their efforts to make an impact.

“The PetSmart Charities Adoption Centers located inside PetSmart stores help us free up our foster homes quickly, while also making pets highly accessible and visible to the public for adoption. Pets sitting in overcrowded shelters can’t afford for us to have our rescued pets occupy foster homes longer than is necessary. Hiring a part-time staff person to assist with our in-store adoptions will help us get our rescued pets into loving homes more quickly! This equates to more lives saved! Each pet we rescue needs a great deal of medical care prior to being adopted, including spaying or neutering, vaccines, testing and often treatments and medications, so we are also grateful this grant will help offset some of these costs,” said Kelley Rice, President of New Hope Animal Rescue.
