Big, handsome, and officially HOME 🖤 Our beloved Big, handsome, and officially HOME 🖤 Our beloved Burglar was adopted from our adoption center at @petsmart in Balcones Woods! Burglar’s journey to this moment started with an incredible Good Samaritan who noticed a neighborhood stray appearing on and off near a vacant home beginning in late 2024. After the unexpected loss of their beloved dog Stevie, she and her husband began feeding the local cats as a way to heal — never expecting one scruffy black cat to completely steal their hearts. At the time, Burglar was competing for territory with another large stray tomcat named Prowler, often disappearing for weeks at a time. Then one day, Burglar came tearing into their backyard with painter’s tape and debris stuck to the tip of his tail. Using canned food and a lot of patience, she was able to help free him safely — and from that moment on, an unexpected friendship began. What started as feeding a frightened stray slowly turned into months of socialization, trust-building, and love. Thanks to her dedication, Burglar transformed into the sweetest giant cuddlebug imaginable. When she came to us asking for help finding him the perfect forever home, our volunteers instantly fell in love with this gorgeous 18-pound medium-haired house panther… and thankfully, his amazing new mom did too. Stories like Burglar’s are such a powerful reminder of what patience, compassion, and kindness can do. Happy endings all around for this sweet little fam Happy endings all around for this sweet little family 💛 Back in February, we rescued Sophie and her two young kittens after they entered a local shelter together. Today, we’re so excited to share that all three have officially found their forever homes! Sophie was adopted from @petsmart in Balcones, and her kittens, Reggie and Winona, were adopted together from PetSmart in Bee Cave — the perfect ending for this adorable sibling duo. We’re so grateful to everyone who helped this little family along the way — from their foster, to our adoption center volunteers, to the adopters who opened their hearts and homes to them. 💕 Vi loved meeting new friends at Saturday’s adopt 💕 Vi loved meeting new friends at Saturday’s adoption event at Hopsquad Brewing Co. . — but one connection especially stole her heart. She immediately bonded with a sweet 15-year-old girl and was more than ready to go home with her. Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be this time… and Vi is still waiting for her forever family. At 4.5 years old, Vi is the perfect age: past the puppy chaos and settled into being a calm, loving companion. She’s happiest snuggled up with her people, riding in the car, tagging along for adventures, and of course stopping for pup cups. What Vi wants most is simple — a best friend or family to share life with. Someone to love her as deeply as she’ll love them right back. She’s fostered with other dogs and does great, but she’d also be perfectly happy as an only pet, joining a cat family, or living with other mellow dogs who match her calm personality. Vi is also becoming a regular at @Southpawsplayschool on South Lamar, where she’s been making more human and dog friends. She’s also freshly updated on vaccines and just received ProHeart 12, so her heartworm prevention is already covered for the entire year. Vi is ready. Now she just needs her person. 🐾
We are in the middle of a medical crisis with Nova We are in the middle of a medical crisis with Nova right now. Nova was just transported from VEG ER on South Lamar to Crystal Falls Parkway ER in Leander for continued overnight critical care. On Sunday, her foster noticed redness and swelling around the incision site and contacted the veterinary clinic on Monday. An appointment was scheduled for a surgical site check was scheduled for the following day. But by 6 PM, the incision began rapidly oozing and worsening by the minute. We rushed her to VEG ER, and that decision saved her life. Emergency exploratory surgery revealed that Nova is septic. The infection had breached her abdominal wall and caused severe tissue deterioration. Portions of her abdominal wall were compromised badly enough that she required emergency surgery and immediate hospitalization. If we had waited longer, she would not have survived. Tonight, she will remain hospitalized at Crystal Falls ER in Leander. She is stable at the moment, but she is still not out of the woods, requiring IV antibiotics, pain meds and appetite stimulants. So far, we have spent over $7,000 trying to save Nova’s life. We just paid a deposit for $2,500 at Crystal falls parkway; but that if she stays only 24 hours; we will get half refunded back. Our rescue funds are depleted. We were already overwhelmed with major medical cases. Without immediate support, we will be forced to close intake because we simply cannot continue absorbing emergencies of this magnitude while covering the medical needs of the animals already in our care. The vet who did her spay offered to personally contribute $1,000 toward her emergency care or reduce future bills, but nothing has been confirmed, and these emergency costs are due immediately. Sweet She-Ra was within hours of euthanasia at a municipal shelter simply because they had run out of space. Several rescues much larger than ours had already declined to help her due to her age, FIV status, and dental needs. She’s missing most of her teeth and will need dental surgery. But none of that changes who She-Ra is — a gentle, affectionate cat who simply wanted someone to give her a chance. When our team at New Hope Animal Rescue received the message about She-Ra, we knew we couldn’t let those circumstances be the reason her life ended. So we scrambled to find a foster home and made the decision to stretch our already strained resources to save her. This is the reality of rescue — making difficult decisions every day for dogs and cats who are running out of time in overcrowded shelters. She-Ra was rescued on March 3rd, during the week of Amplify Austin, the largest giving campaign in Central Texas. Because of this campaign, a generous donor offered to match every gift dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000, doubling the impact for animals like She-Ra.
